Fortis Virtual Reunion Awards Banquet
On Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 7p.m. to 11p.m., the KCOBA (Toronto Chapter) will be holding its Annual Reunion Awards Banquet, virtual style. This will be our first fundraising event for 2022.
All KC Old Boys, friends and supporters are invited to tune in to Zoom on the night for four (4) hours of fun, prizes, surprises, entertainment and great music.
MC, Paul Blake, KC Old Boy and multitalented entertainer and pastor, along with his co MC, our own, Dr. Cedric “Laza” Lazarus, will be guiding us through the evening’s program and we anticipate a “belly full” of laughs.
During the function, the bursary in honour of the late KC Old Boy, Maurice McDonald, will be presented to a worthy student of Jamaican heritage who has shown academic excellence and who is currently in his or her first year in a college or university in Canada.
Jamaica’s Consul General in Toronto, Mr. Lincoln Downer, will be the guest speaker for the evening.
KC’s Principal, Dave Myrie, will bring greetings and updates from the school.
We will have a rich entertainment package for the event with popular Toronto DJ, Jonathan ‘Juiceman’ Shaw, at the turntable. The Juiceman has been entertaining audiences across Canada for over twenty-five (25) years with his own unique mix of Calypso, Reggae, R&B, Hip Hop and Dance Hall music – we are confident that he will do no less for our event.
Songstress and Recording Artist, Quisha Wint, will also be taking us through a few ballads, in her classy and nostalgic style that she is so well know for, as we relax and sip on our favourite beverage.
Michael Holding, KC Old Boy and legendary West Indies cricketer, will talk to us about his new book on racism: “Why We Kneel, How We Rise” – Winner of the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Prize.
In addition to the music, several exciting items will be raffled off and there will be additional prizes and surprises to ensure that we all have an enjoyable night.
The main goal of the event is to raise much needed funds for our beloved school, Kingston College. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for supporting our school is even more pronounced given that many of the usual in-person fundraising events
usually organized by the various KCOBA Chapters cannot be held. During the pandemic, our Chapter continues to support KC’s long-standing welfare program which provides breakfast and lunch for needy students, and, in addition, there is a continuous need for funding for the school’s many academic, sports and extra-curricular programs, such as the choir and the cadet unit.
We look forward to your joining our efforts to continue Mission Fortis for our beloved alma mater.
