The Fortis 5K Walkathon is a family-friendly event. After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, we’re returning to Chinguacousy Park, in the City of Brampton, on Saturday, September 17th for a fun-filled day walking, running and biking for an hour or two. After our walk, we’ve a delicious free barbeque planned, good music, and some great vibes – all in support of our beloved alma mater, Kingston College, Jamaica (“KC”).
Like most educational institutions today, COVID-19 has severely impacted how KC operates, teaches, and cares for its students, and the cost of doing so in a safe and healthy environment has increased and created an even greater challenge. KC is today in greater need of our support.
To that end, we are required to double our efforts to raise even more well needed funds this year – not just for normal school related activities, but also to continue the required public health directives in light of COVID-19.
The proceeds from this event will help fund the school’s nutrition programs, student dental care program and post-secondary scholarships for qualified students, just to name a few.
Our ask this year is that you:
- Make a pledge, ask your family and friends to make pledges
- Join us at in the park and walk, run, and ride with us – stay for the after walk bbq
- If you unable to attend – make a pledge and collect pledges from your family and friends
Donate what you can – every “little bit” counts and as the old Jamaican proverb goes “one-one coco full basket.” Tax receipts will be issued for donations in the amount of $25.00 or more. For your convenience, you can donate on-line through our website using the secured payment services of PayPal. You can also send donations via e-transfer to our Treasurer, Errol Whittle, at treasurer@kcobatoronto.com. We’ll also be collecting donations at the park on the day of the event.
Thank you for your continued support, and we hope to see you there.
Your donation is truly appreciated. Stay safe and healthy.
