Fortis 5K Walk. Run. Ride. 2024
Steps for Success
When: Saturday, September 14, 2024, b/t 10 a.m. - 12 noon; after Walk FREE BBQ
What: Fortis 5K Walk-A-Thon
Where: Chinguacousy Park, Brampton
How: Walk. Run. Ride. Pledge.
Why: Youth Education and Development
This year is a very special year for us as we celebrate the “99” year of the founding of Kingston College, Jamaica (“KC”). The Fortis 5K Walk-A-Thon is a family-friendly event.
We’re returning to Chinguacousy Park, in the City of Brampton, on Saturday, September 14 th for a fun-filled day walking, running, and riding for an hour or two. After our Walk, we’ve a delicious free barbeque planned, good music, and some great vibes
– all in support of our beloved alma mater, KC.
Like most secondary educational institutions in Jamaica, the government funding and parents’ financial contributions do not meet the full academic and extracurricular operational needs of the school. Therefore, but for the support of the KCOB fraternity, and the Jamaican diaspora generally, organizing activities like these to raise the much- needed funds to fill the gaps in funding, KC would not be able to maintain its standing as one of the preeminent secondary schools in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
Our ask this year is that you:
1. Make a pledge, and ask your family and friends to make pledges
2. Join us at the park and walk, run, and ride with us – stay for the after-Walk BBQ
3. If you are unable to attend – make a pledge and collect pledges from your family
and friends
The proceeds from this event will help fund the school’s welfare programs, infrastructure upgrades, secondary and post-secondary scholarships for qualified students, and centenary legacy projects, just to name a few.
Donate what you can – every “little bit” counts and, as the old Jamaican proverb goes, “one-one coco full basket.” Tax receipts will be issued for donations in the amount of $25.00 or more. For your convenience, you can donate below using the secured payment services of PayPal. You can also send donations via e-transfer to our Treasurer, Errol Whittle, at treasurer@kcobatoronto.com
We’ll also be collecting donations at the park on the day of the event.
Thank you for your continued support, and we hope to see you there.
Your donation is truly appreciated. Stay safe and healthy.
